All round development of the child is the aim of the Salwan Education Trust (SET) and in our school we lay emphasis on total development. To us a great change is discernable and this is being achieved with constant efforts of both teachers and parents. The child is with parents for 18 hours a day and without their active cooperation it is not possible to achieve our aim.
This year we are laying stress on the girl child who is the potential mother of our future generation. A strong reason has been felt to showcase the emerging new 'woman' in India. The woman of today is a strong willed, educated and an individual in her own right.
Surprisingly in spite of having intellectuals like Gargi, Maitrayi and many more in our history, our ancient scriptures mention that from cradle to the grave, a woman is dependent on a male, be it her father, her husband or her son. But today's woman has broken these shackles, overcome illiteracy, and stepped out of their homes. Education has boosted their self confidence and economic independence.
Mahatma Gandhi has said "Educating a girl is educating the whole family". Girls of today must be brought up as equals and learn to emulate women like Indra Nooyi, Kiran Majumdar Shaw, Naina Lal Kidwai, Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams, Arundhati Roy and Medha Patkar. In every sphere of life women are proving their worth as committed professionals. Woman is no more a supplementary bread earner but creating a nice in the economic development of today.
I appeal to parents to join us more enthusiastically so that we can lay a sound foundation for making the child capable of standing on her own feet.
